Sadhana of Mahamudra Seminar
with Richard (Kunga Dawa) Arthure Fri July 30th: 7:30 PM - 9:00 PMSat July 31st: 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM Price: $85 Members ($100 General Public)In Room(s): Main Shrine Room The Sadhana of Mahamudra is a powerful guru yoga practice whose purpose is to enable us to invoke the blessings of the Practice Lineage and to renew spiritual strength. But how are we to understand the wild and wrathful imagery of its symbolism, which may at first seem rather strange and outlandish? And how can the sadhana help to purify the degenerate state of meditation practice and enable us to see the living Dharma within? This weekend seminar will address these questions and more.
Why would you want to learn about the Sadhana of Mahamudra? What is a sadhana anyway?
Sadhana is a sanskrit word that means spiritual practice, which is literally a means of accomplishing something - it is using practice as a means whereby bondage becomes liberation. Traditionally, in Vajrayana Buddhism, the practices we engage in are built on the foundation of shamatha meditation practice (peaceful abiding) in union with insight to then work with a specific deity, or personification of energy. The practice of working in this way is called sadhana practice. Engaging in sadhana practice is a very powerful and effective way to cut through our samsaric cocoons and wake up to the brilliance of the true nature of mind.
